Original vehicle photographs and working results need an intentional storage model. Ask how access, downloads and retention work rather than assuming a cloud bucket or a familiar provider name makes the whole workflow private.

Identify which files are public

Separate marketing examples from customer originals, generated results, private logos and uploaded backgrounds. A public showroom preview does not require the organisation’s source photographs to be publicly accessible too. Ask whether customer files are served through authenticated ownership checks and whether a direct anonymous object URL can retrieve them. Test the intended boundary instead of relying only on a folder name.

Understand the publishing boundary

A reviewed download becomes a separate delivery file that your team may upload elsewhere. Keep that handover deliberate and associate it with the correct stock reference. Private studio storage does not control how a third-party destination later displays or shares a published listing. Review the destination’s settings and avoid treating every working source as a file that belongs on a public gallery.

Ask about retention and deletion

Understand how long working files remain available, what happens when an organisation closes and which records are retained separately for operational or financial reasons. Keep those choices documented in the service’s actual policy. An application setting alone is not a universal statement of legal compliance. Your organisation still needs a suitable process for its data and business requirements.

Check recovery as well as access

A private object is not automatically a recoverable object. Ask how database records, media and application secrets are backed up and restored together. Distinguish a bucket’s ordinary operation from an independent backup or a tested restoration procedure. The useful question is whether the team can recover a consistent project after a failure, not simply whether the storage provider is well known.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

Your dealer checklist.

  • Separate public examples from private working files.
  • Check authenticated ownership and anonymous access.
  • Make publishing downloads a deliberate handover.
  • Understand the documented retention process.
  • Ask how a complete project can be restored.

Common questions.

Does a CDN endpoint mean every object must be public?

No. Public delivery and private working storage are separate decisions. Customer media should use the access model the application explicitly implements and verifies.

Is cloud storage the same thing as a backup?

No. A storage location and a tested recovery arrangement serve different purposes. Check how both media and database records can be recovered.
